The Artisan, Lu Shang's rod, and a walk-back
A new Artisan tab in /quests sells the crafting guilds' key items and Lu Shang's Fishing Rod for Drift Coins, the carp count for the rod drops to 5,000 with the daily catch limit raised to 500 — and Monk Hand-to-Hand and Dragoon Polearm are back to A+.
Three things today. One of them is us changing our minds, so that one goes first.
Hand-to-Hand and Polearm are A+ again
Two days ago the balance pass lowered Monk's Hand-to-Hand and Dragoon's Polearm from A+ to A. You told us, clearly, that it was the wrong call, and you were right: a skill rank is part of what a job is, and seven points at the cap was never worth that. Both are A+ again, which is what retail has.
Nothing was lost while it stood. Your stored skill was never touched — a capped monk played at 417 for two days and reads 424 again from the next restart. If you levelled a monk or dragoon past 62 in those two days you may have a few ordinary skill-ups to collect, and that is all.
White Mage's Club at A+ stays. The balance pass page has been corrected.
The Artisan tab
/quests has a new tab, Artisan, for the crafters and the fishers.
It sells what the nine crafting guilds sell for guild points — all forty-five of their key items, from Patissier to Mooching — for Drift Coins instead. The price is read straight off each key item's own guild-point cost:
| The guild asks | The Artisan asks |
|---|---|
| up to 10,000 guild points | 25 Drift Coins |
| up to 20,000 | 50 |
| up to 40,000 | 100 |
| 95,000 (Serpent Rumors) | 250 |
| 115,000 (Mooching) | 300 |
A whole guild's set is 275 to 400 coins; Fishing, with its two big ones, is 700.
The rank still applies. A key item that needs Veteran rank at the guild needs Veteran rank here, in that guild's own craft — the server reads the guild's own list, so this shelf can never sell you something the union representative would refuse. A row you cannot be sold yet is greyed, and hovering it says why.
The guilds have not changed. Guild points, the daily turn-ins and the union representatives all work exactly as they did, and cost nothing but time. This is a second door for people who would rather craft than queue: the Drift Board already pays coins for crafting, fishing and gathering contracts, so the hobby now buys its own unlocks.
Typed, it is !drift artisan (add a guild, such as !drift artisan cooking), !drift artisanbuy 5101, then !drift confirm.
Lu Shang's Fishing Rod
The most-asked-for item on the server this month, two ways:
- On the Artisan tab, for 500 Drift Coins. No rank needed. One per character while you hold one — and if yours is broken, Irmilant in Rabao still mends it, so the shelf will point you there instead of selling you a second.
- From the brothers in Port San d'Oria, for 5,000 carp — half of what it was. Your tally so far counts; if you were already past 5,000, your next trade finishes it.
And the daily catch limit is 500, up from 300, for everyone. The limit is why the carp count moved at all: at 300 a day the old 10,000 was more than a month of doing nothing else. At 500 a day, 5,000 is ten.
Ebisu stays a quest. Serpent Rumors being on the Artisan tab does make that quest a good deal easier to start.
Getting it
The Artisan tab arrives with dwquest 1.34.0 — the launcher updates it for you. If a row is greyed and you think it should not be, /report reaches us with your real state attached.
