Client not updating?

The launcher needs a FINAL FANTASY XI client on the current retail build, and PlayOnline does not always fetch it on its own. Get a working client is the step-by-step: install the free retail client, force the update through, and get past the three things that usually go wrong.

Make it executable and run it (chmod +x, then start it). It runs the launcher; the game itself still runs under Wine, so you need a Wine prefix with the retail client first — step 1 of the Linux guide. Point the launcher at that client folder and it works out the prefix, installs Ashita inside it, and keeps the add-ons current.
