A cleaner log, wider rolls, and a Corsair who sang
DWChat folds the chat spam and colours the rest (off until you turn it on), Fancychat is installable from the launcher, every Phantom Roll reaches three times as far, elemental casting time now works on 33 more pieces, melee squad members stop freezing behind a healer, and a gunless Corsair stops singing bullets at the monster
A patch with two new ways to read your chat log, two Corsair fixes, one for every squad, and one for the black mages.
DWChat: the log, folded and coloured
There is a new add-on, DWChat, and it is off until you turn it on. Open it with /dwchat, or type /dwchat on. Off, your log is exactly what the game sent.
On, two things happen. Every battle line is colour-coded by what it is: damage you deal, damage you take, healing, buffs landing and wearing off, experience and the other points, items and gil, skill-ups. And the worst of the spam is folded into fewer lines. Three experience gains inside a second and a half become one summed line with a count. A run of skill-ups becomes one line. A squad member's melee against one target becomes one line naming the hits, the crits and the misses, instead of nine. The folded lines land in the same window the originals were bound for, and the timestamp add-on's stamps stay where they were.
Each of those is its own checkbox in the window, and the folding window is a slider. More lines will fold in later releases: spells and abilities, loot, and routing lines between your two windows.
Fancychat, from the launcher
Fancychat, the tabbed chat replacement, is now on the launcher's allowed list. Install it from the Addons tab with its GitHub link and switch it on if you want it. Two things to know: switch it on after the DriftwoodXI add-ons, not before, or you will see some notices twice, and when a new DriftwoodXI add-on arrives, switch Fancychat off and on again so it moves back to the end of the load order. DWChat and Fancychat do different jobs and you can run either.
Phantom Rolls reach three times as far
Every Phantom Roll and Double-Up now covers 24 yalms around the Corsair instead of 8. Bard songs got four times their radius and Blood Pact: Wards twice theirs in earlier patches, for the same reason: a squad spread over a pull is routinely outside a retail-sized circle, and a roll that misses half the party is a roll you have to walk back and redo. Luzaf's Ring still adds its eight on top.
Elemental magic casting time works on 33 more pieces
The stat "Elemental magic casting time -N%" is on 37 pieces of gear, and on this server only 4 of them actually had it. The rest, including the Goetia Petasos +2 on the Outfitter, the Wicce Petasos ranks and the whole Mallquis set, carried the words and not the number. They do now, at their retail values. The reduction applies to elemental magic only, stacks with Fast Cast, and the combined cap is unchanged.
Squad fixes
Melee members no longer freeze behind a healer. If your White Mage sat in squad slot 2 and your melee in slots 3 and 4, the melee would turn around and stand still instead of engaging, and moving the healer to slot 4 fixed it. That was never the healer in the way. A leftover walk toward the previous member in the chain was pulling the melee back every tick once they were more than nine yalms from the monster. Melee members now walk the monster down from any distance and any place in the chain, and stop inside their own swing range rather than at a fixed three yalms, which also helps against small monsters.
A Corsair with bullets and no gun no longer fires them. A squad Corsair with Bronze Bullets pinned and nothing in the ranged slot would shoot anyway, spend a real bullet each time, and play a singing animation while doing it. A squad member now meets the same rule you do: a ranged weapon, or a throwing item in the ammo slot, or no shot.
The Outfitter's Costume page
Three more costumes at 50 Drift Coins: the Goblin Belt, the Rabbit Belt and the Worm Belt. Each is a belt you use for an hour as the creature.
