Your crafting ledger: the new dwcraft window
The new dwcraft addon shows the crafter's ledger the game hides. Type /craft: every craft's level, rank and next rank test, the specialization budget -- how much you have spent past the free cap, how much is left, and which craft pays when it runs dry -- and the crafting rules this server actually runs, read live from its settings.
FFXI hides the crafter's ledger. Your skill levels sit three menus deep, the rank tests are folklore you learn by hitting them, and this server's most distinctive crafting rule -- the specialization budget that lets three crafts reach 110 where retail allows one -- is enforced invisibly and displayed nowhere. Level a fourth craft past 70 and the wall the game never announced files itself under "broken".
From today there is a window instead. The dwcraft addon ships with the server, is on in the Default set, and opens with /craft (or by typing !craft on its own).
What it shows
- Every craft, with its real level, its rank, this rank's cap, and where the next guild test unlocks -- the wall named before you hit it, not after.
- The specialization ledger. Every craft levels freely to 70. Past that, levels draw on a shared budget of 1,200 points -- generous enough for three crafts at 110 -- and Fishing never counts. The window shows what you have spent, what is left, and which craft is first in line to pay if you push past the budget, because past it, gains are traded rather than gained.
- The house rules, from the source. HQ chance, skill-up rates, the modern skill-up system -- read from the server's live settings at the moment you open the window, never hardcoded copy. And one line worth the window on its own: day and moon folklore does nothing here. Craft when you like.
What it deliberately does not do
The window computes nothing. Every number in it is the server's answer, by the same arithmetic the skill-up code enforces -- if the window says a craft would pay, that is because the enforcement says so. And it performs nothing: no synth, no trade, no turn-in ever happens from this window. It is a ledger, not a workshop.
No window? No problem. Everything works typed: !craft skills, !craft points, !craft rules. Turning the addon off costs you the table and nothing else.
The launcher will fetch dwcraft on its own the next time it checks content -- there is nothing to install. If the window does not open, the addon is switched off: launcher, Addons tab, switch on dwcraft, or type /addon load dwcraft where you stand.
This is the first piece of a larger crafting plan -- a recipe book that checks your bags, a skill-up planner that knows what a point costs, and a session tally are on the bench behind it.
