Runes, bank an augment and put it where you want
Every kill that pays you experience can now hand your account a Rune, one Super Auged augment banked for later. Open the new Runes tab in /spoils, pick a piece of your own gear, and the augment goes on it. Plus a longer road to Esper mastery, a round of trade and storage fixes, and squad characters that were stuck at level 50.
This patch adds Runes, the first way on Driftwood to choose where an augment goes instead of taking what drops.
The short version
- Every kill that pays you experience has a small chance of handing your account a Rune. A Rune is one augment, banked.
- There are 98 Runes, one for each augment on the Super Auged list.
- Open /spoils, go to the new Runes tab, pick a piece of your own gear the Rune fits, and the augment goes on it.
- Mastering an Esper now takes about three times as long.
- The ten times bonus in DWEsper and DWSpoils now pays only for real notorious monsters.
- A round of trade, storage and gil fixes.
- Squad characters stuck at level 50 or 30 inventory slots are fixed.
Runes
Finding one. Every kill that pays you experience rolls for a Rune. The roll sits beside the DWSpoils roll and never replaces it, so your spoils odds are exactly what they were. When a Rune turns up, the whole server hears about it, along with the kind of gear it can be applied to.
What a Rune is. Each Rune is one augment from the Super Auged list, named for that augment's number in Roman numerals. Rune LXXVIII is HP. Rune XXXVII is Magic Evasion. There are 98 kinds in all.
Who owns it. Runes belong to your account, not to a character, so any of your characters can spend one.
Where it fits. A Rune goes on gear by the same rules a Super Auged find follows:
- A Dual Wield Rune goes only on a one-handed weapon.
- A weapon skill Rune goes only on that kind of weapon.
- A pet Rune goes only on gear a pet job can wear.
Applying one. The augment lands at a random rank across that item's Super Auged range:
- On a piece with a free augment slot, it takes the free slot.
- On a piece that already carries that augment, it re-rolls that slot. No piece ever carries the same augment twice.
- On a piece that already has four augments, you choose which one it replaces.
The window shows you the item's four slots and what the Rune will do to them, and asks you to confirm before anything is spent. Then it shows you what it rolled.
The Runes tab
/spoils now has four tabs: My Spoils, Runes, Hall of Four and Super Auged.
The Runes tab lists every kind of Rune, grouped by where it fits. For each one you see how many your account has found and still holds, and the lowest and highest it can roll. The Apply button lists the gear in your bags that the Rune fits. It also lists pieces it would fit if they were not equipped or up for sale, so you know what to take off first.
Everything works typed as well:
!spoils runeslists your Runes.!spoils runegear XLVlists what Rune XLV fits, what it would roll there, and the exact line that spends it.
Espers
- Mastering an Esper now takes about three thousand incredibly tough kills, three times as many as before.
- Espers you have already mastered stay mastered.
- Progress you have already made is kept, and now counts toward the higher total, so an unmastered Esper's bar will show less than it did.
Real notorious monsters only
The ten times bonus in DWEsper and DWSpoils now pays only for a real notorious monster. That means one on a respawn timer of an hour or more, a placeholder spawn, or one you pop. It no longer pays for monsters that respawn like the camp around them or come by the dozen, such as the Promyvion Strays.
Trade, storage and gil fixes
We went through every place an item or gil changes hands and closed a set of duplication exploits. You should not notice most of this, with one exception:
- Gil you have put in an open trade window cannot be spent anywhere else until that trade closes. Shops, guilds, Unity and the rest treat it as already spoken for.
Squad characters stuck at level 50
Some characters that were played only as squad members, and never logged into directly, were stuck at level 50 with 30 inventory slots and an empty satchel. That also caught a few characters whose job was changed through the squad before their first login. Every character now starts with the right level cap and 80 slots in both bags, whether or not you have logged into it yet. Thank you to the player who reported it and helped us test.
Also fixed
- Fell Shadow Lord raids and Nemesis fights share the Throne Room. A busy room no longer sends your party back to town. You are moved into a free arena instead.
- Addon windows should miss far fewer updates. The server was dropping some of the data it sent them when a lot went out at once.
Update through the launcher to get the new /spoils window. As always, /report anything that looks off.
