Black Mage reparations, Endark II and Enlight II, the Prophetic Knife, and a macro fix
Elemental magic goes from 1.25x to 1.75x for players and everyone fighting on their side, while enemies stay exactly where they were. Dark Knights and Paladins can finally cast the Endark II and Enlight II their job points paid for. The Prophetic Knife gives its stats. And dwmacro stops leaving you one book and one set away from the page you asked for.
This is the same patch that lets the Unleashed monsters loose, which has its own post. Everything below is the rest of it. Update dwmacro through the launcher; the other changes are on the server and are live now.
Elemental magic: 1.75x, and only for your side
In August elemental magic came down from 1.5x to 1.25x. It should have stopped at 1.5x. At level 99 a Black Mage was left well behind what a melee build does with the same effort, and that was a nerf that should not have happened. So this is reparations, and it overshoots on purpose:
- Elemental magic now runs at 1.75x, up from 1.25x. That is every spell on Elemental Magic skill: the single-target nukes from tier I to VI, every -ga and -ja, ancient magic, Comet, Meteor, Impact, and all eight helixes including the second tier.
- It is for players and everyone fighting for them: you, your squad members, trusts, hired mercenaries, and any pet or charmed monster on your side.
- Enemies did not get it. The reason this number came down in August was that one multiplier covered both your Thunder and the Firaga III a monster dropped on your party, and at 1.5x enemy -aga III was the leading cause of death on the server. That link is cut. A monster's elemental magic stays at the 1.25x it had yesterday, and it can never sit above yours.
- It is temporary. 1.75x is a deliberate overshoot to make up for the weeks at 1.25x. It will come back down once the job has had its turn, and 1.5x is where it was always meant to rest.
Dark, Divine, Ninjutsu, Blue and healing magic are unchanged.
Endark II and Enlight II can be cast
A Dark Knight with 100 job points spent is given Endark II, and a Paladin with 100 spent is given Enlight II. Both spells showed up in the list and both answered "cannot cast" every single time, whatever you had unlocked. The unlock was never the problem. Endark II had no spell behind it on the server, and Enlight II was missing from the spell table altogether, so the Paladin gift handed over nothing at all. Thank you to Gwayne for the report.
- Both work now. If you already have the job points spent, you already have the spell. There is nothing to redo and nothing to buy again.
- They open at twice the charge of the first tier. At capped skill that is about 129 added damage on the first swing for Endark II against 64 for Endark, and about 126 against 63 for Enlight II. Like the first tier, the added damage counts down by one with every swing that lands.
- Same icon, same bonuses. They show as Endark and Enlight, and what your job point categories add (Attack and Accuracy for Endark, Accuracy for Enlight) applies to the second tier exactly as it does to the first.
Several other gift spells are still not in the game at all: the eight Scholar storm II spells, Aspir III, Full Cure, Addle II, Distract III, Frazzle III, Refresh III and the Geomancer -ra III line. Those are content still to be written rather than something broken, and they are on the list.
The Prophetic Knife gives its stats
The Prophetic Knife showed a full stat block in your client and gave you none of it. It now carries:
- Accuracy +35 and Magic Accuracy +35
- Critical hit rate +10%
- Dagger skill +242, Parrying skill +242 and Magic Accuracy skill +242
If you had one equipped, you were swinging an item level 119 dagger with no weapon skill rating behind it, so expect it to hit noticeably more often. The set bonus with Prophetica, weapon skill damage +10%, is not in yet. The Prophetic Axe, Sword and Club and Prophetica itself are in the same state the knife was, and are next.
dwmacro 2.3.1: Book 3 means Book 3
The report was that /dwmacro remember 3 1 would sometimes bring you back on Book 4, Set 2 after a zone line. It looked exactly like the addon counting from zero. It was not: the page was always written down correctly.
To put your macros back, the addon briefly steps to the book next door and back again, because the client ignores a request for the book it believes it is already showing. It was sending the step away and the step back as one burst of four commands. Some clients take the first half of a burst like that and drop the second, which leaves you on the book next door and the set next door. One book along and one set along, every time it happened.
- The step away and the step back are now sent separately, and the addon looks at where the client actually is before sending the second one.
- A repair the client refuses is tried again. Until now, if the game was not yet taking typed commands after a zone line, a page you had named by hand was silently never put back at all.
- A page you name by hand only needs the slow path once. After the first repair that lands, dwmacro learns the page properly and puts it back instantly on every zone line after that.
/dwmacro debug now also lists the steps the last repair took, which is the line to quote if your macros ever come back wrong again.
